Following her four People's Choice Awards victory last week, Taylor Swift has been formally crowned the largest global artist of 2023. The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) declared Swift the winner of the Global Artist Chart on Wednesday, February 21st, for the second consecutive year. In addition, the Cruel Summer hitmaker created history by winning the coveted crown four times.

  • Taylor Swift officially declared 2023's biggest global artist

IFPI announced the news on X, the previous Twitter platform, with the hashtag "#1 - Taylor Swift." The indomitable @taylorswift13 smashes her own record by becoming the first-ever four-time winner of the Global Artist Chart and returning to the top of the charts for the second year in a row. Taylor, congrats! You are the year's top global artist, officially!

For Swift, 2023 was clearly a year of accomplishments. The singer of Blank Space won several awards last year, including Spotify's Global Top Artist and Time's Person of the Year.

But it appears like the 34-year-old pop icon is still in the early stages of his career. Swift won her 13th Grammy Award to start off 2024. Her ongoing successes are a testament to her commitment to her work. The vocalist of Look What You Made Me Do won first place in 2014, 2019; in 2022 and 2023.

"We are incredibly proud to award Taylor Swift the IFPI Global Recording Artist of the Year Award for the fourth time, as she continues to redefine the limits of global success," said Lewis Morrison, Director of Charts and Certifications at IFPI. Taylor is a unique artist with an incredible dedication to both her craft and her fan base.

The well-known K-pop trio SEVENTEEN secured the second place on the IFPI list, behind Swift by only one place. With the exception of Swift, only tenth-place finisher Lana Del Rey was a female musician among the twenty artists and ensembles who made the list. The K-pop duo Stray Kids, Drake, The Weekend, Morgan Wallan, Ed Sheeran, Eminem, Travis Scott, Kanye West, Post Malone, and Zach Bryan are among the other winners.
